Ohhhh boy, did this remodel have a transformation that would stop you in your tracks! We feel like remodels get a bad wrap in the design community, but we love the challenge of adopting existing features while tailoring them toward’s a new families wants and needs. It’s absolutely a rewarding experience, despite the unexpected set backs and a few “aw hah” moments. It just makes this project a little bit sweeter.

The kitchen in this home is small yet mighty. With a smaller footprint, we wanted to ensure the space was visually minimalistic with subtle design elements, such as the drool-worthy ogee marble backsplash, with functionality being a priority. With a clean aesthetic and functionality at the forefront of our minds, we had a bit of fun with the concealed door into the butler’s pantry, rather than a conventional passage way that posed the opportunity for visual and let’s face it, actual clutter.

With the hidden pantry, this home has the potential to maximize storage for all of the Costco shoppers out there! Not only is there additional appliances installed here, but there is also ample drawer storage for snacks, vegetables, and large countertop appliances. Not shown, there are also rows and rows of shelves for anything your heart desires.

Noticing the contrasting base? We hoped you would! We love how a little unconventional paint can liven up a home with little effort. For those wondering, we paired the classic Dunn Edwards White Heat with Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige for the base and interior doors. We definitely recommend!

Okay, speaking of contrasting base - take a peek at the marble base installed throughout the powder. We know, we know - you can only see a sliver of it in the photo, but you should have seen how our photographer had to contort himself and his equipment to make this shot even happen. Thanks, Dan!

We were so drawn to dark Roman Clay walls and ended up with this deep espresso brown (Forest Floor by Portola Paints). We knew a marble integrated sink was the next obvious choice and pairing it with nickel or an oil-rubbed bronze plumbing, just didn’t feel right. So we landed on this beautiful handcrafted unlacquered brass finish that will only add more life to the space as time goes on. The dainty light and feminine mirror just add the cherry on top to this dreamy destination.

With a laundry room this cozy and quaint, we wanted to add some warmth to the room. The vertical paneled cabinets paired with unlacquered brass plumbing and hardware helped us achieve this almost instantly. We, again, opted for marble countertops and splash here to keep the vein of sophistication running through the home.

Despite some of the other areas of the home feeling quite cozy, the primary bathroom was a space that was expansive. Our challenge here was to ensure the room felt that breathe of homey and functionality and one of our solutions was to create a wet room style shower, which encapsulated a beautiful freestanding tub with a wall to wall marble shelf. Stunning, right? Don’t worry, the tub only takes up a fraction of the shower and there are two shower systems flanking the tub left and right.

Were you worried they wouldn’t have their own little marble slab shelf? We wouldn’t dream of letting that happen! The composition of the brass plumbing, zellige walls and marble is just a timeless combination that we look forward to seeing age gracefully.
